- Me, my brother & my mother left our land of Gifar because of people used to be disrespectful of (اَشْهَرُ الْحُرْمُ) the sacred months. اَشْهَرُ الْحُرْمُ are the 4 months in which the Arabs used to consider sacred. This would give them a break from warfare. You do not break the sanctity of the 4 months. People of Gifar was different. They are professional raiders of caravan. They have a bad reputation of Arabia - 01:10

- So they decided to leave Giffar.
- They went & visite an uncle of different tribe to stay.
He was hospitable to them. But his relatives were becoming jealous.
They went up to the uncle of Abu Zarr & said, "When you're absent Unais (Abu Zarr's brother) visits your wife & he is interested in her."
The uncle quite naively went to Abu Zarr & Unais & to mention to them what he heard.
He said, "Unais is interested in my wife."
Abu Zarr was angry & upset.
He said, "All the good that you've done to us you've cancelled it after this accusation of yours."

- Hijrah to abyssinia - 28:20

- There are two Hijra.  1st one happened in the 5th year following revelation. It was composed of 12 men & 4 women.

- The second Hijra was composed of 83 men & 18 or 19 women. It was a sporadic migration that didn't happen in one group.

- When the first group went to al-'Habasha, they heard a rumor that the people of Quraish have become Muslim. Rasulullah ﷺ received the Ayath of Suraht an-Najm. When he recited those Ayath; those Ayath were so powerful that it had so much effect on the people of quraish; when they heard the last Ayath which is an Ayath of Sujud; Rasulullah ﷺ & the Muslims made Sujud; Kuffar made Sujud with them. They were so much entuned with the Ayath that they went into Sujud.
- This was the origion of that false rumor of people of Quraish becoming Muslim. So the first group came back to Makkah to find out that it was a false rumor.

- Delegation from Quraish to meet with Najashi. 'Amar ibn 'Aas & 'Abdullah ibn Rabi'ya or 'Amar ibn Rabi'ya. Central figure is 'Amar ibn 'Aas. He was a diplomat & a very intelligent man. He has wide connections. He was the friends of the Kings of the world at that time. So he was the right person to choose. He was a Mastermind in plotting & planning. He was very good in conspiracies against the Muslims.
- The plan was to meet & give gifts to the top officials first & give every one of them bribes. So when he talks to Najashi & consults with the officials, they would all give a unified opinion to hand them over.
- 'Amar ibn al-'Aas to the Top Officials of an-Najashi, "In your land there're some fools who ran away from Makkah, we want them to turn them over. " - 33:55
- "I prefer that you hand us over these people without having them meet with an-Najashi." cause their words are very effective (The Qur'an) - 32:58
- All the Officials advised an-Najashi to hand over the Muslims.
- an-Najashi, "I would not hand over people who have seek refuge in my land until I hear their side of the story."
- The justice of an-Najashi & the choice of Rasulullah ﷺ to have Sa'habah' go to the right place.
- Ja'far ibn Abu Talib wass chosen as the spokesman.
- The speech to a nonbeliever king - 34:55
- "O King, we were a people of Polytheism. We worshipped idols. Ate the meat of animals that have died. Offended rules of hospitality & permitted things forbidden as in the shedding of one another's blood & so on. We completely ignored the matters of right & wrong. So God send to us a Prophet from ourselves whose honesty & trustworthiness we knew well. He summoned us to pray to God alone & without associates. Told us to respect rights of Kingship. To honor rights of Hospitality. To pray to God Almighty & glorious. To fast for Him & to worship none other than Him. So He called us to God to affirm his oneness. To worship him. To tear down all the other stones & idols we & our forefathers worshipped apart from Him. He ordered us to be truthful in our speech. To keep our trust. To respect kinship ties & hospitality rights. Abandon things forbidden & the shedding of blood. He forbade us to do anything immoral; to tell lies & to misuse the fund of orphans or to make false acquisitions against women of virtue. He ordered us to worship God & to associate no other God with him. He to told us to pray; to give charity & to fast."

- Rasulullah ﷺ is camping outside of Makkah. Trying to find somebody who would sponsor him & give him protection. Messenger ('Uraiqat) sent to Akhnas Bin Shuraiq. He was living Makkah. Ally of Quraish.
 - Akhnas Bin Shuraiq, "Since I'm an ally, I can't give protection to somebody who is from Quraish."
- Same message to Su'hail ibn 'Amr. He said, "I can't give you protection because the clan of 'Amr bin Luai can't give protection to somebody who is ka'ab bin Luai."
- 3rd try to Mut'am bin Jubair. He accepted the request & Rasulullah ﷺ spent the night at his house. Early in the morning al-Mut'am passed 6 or 7 of his sons to carry their swords, put on some special clothes & to go out surrounding Rasulullah ﷺ to escort him to Ka'ba. When they reached their, they had a sit over watching Rasulullah ﷺ while he was making Tawaf.
- Abu Sufiyan, "Are you giving him protection or are you follwing him?"
- Mut'am, "I'm only giving him protection."
- Abu Sufiyan, "If that's the case, we will accept your protection."
- Rasulullah ﷺ is giving Da'wa under the protection of Mut'am bin Juair.
- Meeting the Arab tribes during pilgrimage.

- Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, "Rasulullah ﷺ would for the periods of those years present himself to the Arab tribes in each fair speaking to the each tribal leader but asking them only for their protection & support. He would say...
I don't wish to force any of you to do anything. Any of you who agree to what I ask may do so. But I would not compel anyone not so wishing. All I was is to guard myself against those who want to kill me so that I may fulfil my lords mission & carry out whatever decree he wishes regarding myself & those who support me."

- Az-Zuhuri, "But not one of them accepted Him. Everyone of those tribes reached the following conclusion...
THE MAN'S OWN TRIBE KNEW HIM THE BEST. HOW COULD WE ACCEPT AS SUITABLE FOR US SOMEONE WHO HAS SUBVERTED HIS TRIBE & WHOM THEY HAVE EXPELLED.
Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri  was a Tabe'i. He was the one who was given the responsibility of compiling 'Hadith. Which happened during the time of 'Umar ibn 'Abdul 'Aziz.
- This was the first official project to compile the 'Hadith of Rasulullah ﷺ.
- Ibn Ishaq, "Mu'hammad ﷺ visited some of the tribes.

🔴 - Tribe of Khinda gave them da'wa. They refused.

🔴 - Benu 'Abdullah. Rasulullah ﷺ gave them da'wa & said, "Look at how Allah ﷻ has chosen for you a good name". They turned Him down.

🔴 - Benu Hanifa. They treated Him so bad.
- Az-Zuhri, "None of the Arabs gave him so rude rejection as they did."
- The same people, Benu 'Hanifa are the ones who years later are gonna lead the worst revolt ever against Mu'hammad . Which happened right before He died & it only ended at the time of Abu Bakr Siddique. This revolt was led by Musailama al-Kazzab.
- Musailma al-Kazzab was from Benu 'Hanifa. He claimed prophethood - 19:05

🔴 - Benu 'Amir Nusasa: When their leader Bai'hara bin Faras met & listened to Rasulullah ﷺ, became so impressed that he said, "I swear if I were to have this brave man of Quraish, I could eat up the Arabs with him."
- Bai'hara is thinking politics. He wants to recruit Mu'hammad ﷺ to conquer the land of the Arabs. Because he saw that Rasulullah ﷺ has qualities that are unique.
- Bai'hara, "If we were to follow your orders & then Allah ﷻ give you victory against those opposing you, would we have power after you are gone?"
🕌 - al-A'raf, 7-128 - "The earth belongs to Allah ﷻ & he gives power to whomever he wishes" - 20:35
Bai'hara, "Are we to present our throats to the Arabs & then if God give you victory see power go elsewhere than us?"
- Old man among Benu 'Amir Nusasa went back to their homeland. An old man among them who was wise. Because of his age he wasn't able to attend the pilgrimage. But whenever they would come back he would ask them about the events that happened. So when they went back, they told him that we meet a young man, the grand son of 'Abdul Muttalib from Quraish claiming to be a Prophet & we have rejected him.
- The old man put his hand on his forehead & said, "Could your mistake be put right? Can it's consequences be reversed? I swear no decedents of Isma'il ever made such a claim falsely. It has to be true. Where did your good judgement go?"

- 'Ali ibn Abu Talib...
- 23:50
- When God ordered His messenger to present Himself to the tribes of the arabs, He left alone with myself & Abu Bakr for Mina (Where camps are set). Abu Bakr, God bless him, went forward & made his greetings. He was in a very vanguard of good & an expert in genealogy.
🥇 Abu Bakr, "From whom do you people come?"
- They said, "We are from Rabi'a (north east part of Arabia might be in Iraq)."
- Rabi'a is a large tribe. Abu Bakr wants to narrow it down.
🥇 Abu Bakr, "From it's mainstream or branches?" (Are you from the forehead)
- They said, "We are from the greatest mainstream of it (we are the best)."
- Abu Bakr wanted to verify that claim.
- In preislamic Arabia strength, power & sometimes even violence is viewed with respect. This is one of the things Islam came to change that oppression is not good.
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Is out of you of who it is said there is no free man in out's valley"
They said, "No."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Does Biston bin Qais, Abul Liwa & Munta'han La'hiya belong to you?"
They said, "No."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Is Hawfazan bin Shuraik; the killer of kings & the robber of their souls; a Kingsman of yours?"
They said, "No."
🥇- Abu Bakr, "Is Jassas bin Murwa; the protector of honor & the defender; a neighbor from you?"
They said, "No."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Is al-Muzdalif; He of the unique turban; from you?"
They said, "No."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Are you related to the kings of Kinda?"
- They said, "No."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Are you related to the kings of Lakham?"
- They said, "No."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "So you are not from the main stream but you are from the branch."
Darfal, A young man from Rabi'a stood up. His beard just beginning to sprout. He jumped up & grabbed the bridle of Abu Bakr's camel reciting,
"Those who ask of us will be would be asked of, as for the burden of proof, we neither know it or bear it as responsibility. Hey you, you asked & we replied. Hiding nothing from you. We want to ask you something, Who are you?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "I'm a man from Quraish."
- Darfal, "Well said. You are a people leadership & nobility. The vanguard & guide of the Arabs. Now let me narrow it down, what part of Quraish are you from?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "I'm from Benu Taim bin Murra'h."
Benu Taim bin Murra'h is a small clan in Quraish who were not known for any strength or uniqueness.
- Darfal, "You've shown the target shooter where the bulls eye is! Is Qusai ibn Kilab; he who killed at Makkah those who were trying to convert; a Kingsman of yours? That man Qusai; who drove the rest of them away & brought his own people from all over & settled them in Makkah to cover the temple & said Quraish in the dwellings. The man who was therefore known as the unifier & about whom a poet spoke the verse... WAS IT NOT YOUR FATHER WHO WAS CALLED THE  UNIFIER BY WHOM GOD BROUGHT TOGETHER THE THE TRIBES OF FIRR?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No. We are not 'Abdul Manaf, the ultimate giver of advice.
Darfal, "Are you not from 'Abul Gadarif, the great leader of your stock?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
- Darfal, "Are you not from 'Amar ibn 'Abdul Manaf al-Hashim, who prepared bread & meat to the dish? Of whom the poet said...
PREPARE THE TERRIF FOR THIS PEOPLE WHILE THE MEN OF MAKKAH WERE DESTITUE & UNDER PLANNING. TO HIM THEY ATTRIBUTE BOTH THE JOURNIES THAT OF THE WINTER & THAT OF THE SUMMER. QURAISH WHO HAD AN EGG WHICH WHEN SPLIT OPEN CAME TO HAVE IT'S BEST PART. THE YOLK AS 'ABDUL MANAF. THEY WERE THE WEALTHY AS NO OTHER KNOWN. AND THEY ARE THOSE WHO SAY... COME ON IN TO THE  GUESTS. THEY ARE THOSE WHO STRIKE DOWN PURE WHITE SHEEP. THOSE WHO PROTECT THE INNOCENT WITH THEIR SWORDS. HOW FINE FOR YOU IF YOUS STAYED AT THEIR ABOUT, THEY WILL PROTECT YOU FROM ALL ILLS AND ACCUSITIONS.
... Is he of you?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
- Darfal, "You must be related to 'Abdul Muttalib; that venerable man of much praise; controller of the Makkah caravan; and the feeder of the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the lions of desert; his whose face shines forth like a moon on a dark night?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
- They called 'Abdul Muttalib the feeder of the lions, the beasts & the birds because of the 100 camels that he slaughtered & he refused to take any of it.
- Darfal, "Then he must be of those who have the privilege of  Efada?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
Darfal, "Perphaps of those who have the privilege of  'Hijaba?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
- Darfal, "Then those who have the privilege of  Nadwa?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
- Darfal, "Then he must be of those who have the privilege of  Siqaya?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
Darfal, "Are you them of those who have the privilege of  prividing Rifada?"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "No."
Answering all those questions with a no was too much for Abu Bakr. So Abu Bakr just turned around, tried to leave by pulling the bridle of his camel from Darfal's hand.
- Darfal responded by saying, "Your flood has meet a greater flood that is coming from me. Once it will crack it another time it would go over it. Well; I swear oh brother of Quraish if you have continued to hold out, I would have proven to you that you belong to lowest class of Quraish not it's elite."
Rasulullah ﷺ came over smiling.
-  'Ali told Abu Bakr, "Well this Bedouin has turned out to be a disaster for you!"
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Yes & there is never a catastrophe without another that follows. Calamity is compounded by words!"

- 'Ali, "Then we went into a meeting that we see calm & dignity in people. Abu Bakr went to them & greeted them."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "Where you are from?"
🔴 - They said, "We are from benu Shayban."
- Abu Bakr came to report Rasulullah ﷺ & said, "These are people who have experience & power."
- Abu Bakr went to the group leaders 🎓 Makhruk bin 'Amar, 🎓 Hani ibn Qubaisa, 🎓 Muthanna bin 'Haritha & 🎓 Nu'man bin Shuraik.
- The person who was closest to Abu Bakr was 🎓 Makhruk bin 'Amar. He was as having two braids that came down to his chest.
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "How many are you in number?"
- Makhruk bin 'Amar, "We are more than a thousand strong. A few man can't beat a thousand does they say."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "How would protection be with you?"
- Makhruk bin 'Amar, "We go to the limit & every people have their limit."
🥇 - Abu Bakr, "How is it when you make war with your enemies?"
- Hani ibn Qubaisa, "When we meet in battle, we are the angriest of men. We take greater pride in our steeds than our sons. Care more for our swords than our camels. Victory rests with Allah ﷻ. Sometimes he grants us victory, sometimes others victory over us."
- Muthanna bin 'Haritha, "I heard & I liked what you said. I was impressed by your words. But my answer should be that of Hani ibn Qubaisa. For us to leave our religion & follow You after one sitting with us would be like us taking residence two pools of stagnant water. One al-Yamama & other as-Samawa."
- Rasulullah ﷺ didn't understand that.
- Rasulullah ﷺ said, "What might those pools of stagnant water be?"
- Muthanna bin 'Haritha, "One of these is where the land extends to the Arab world & the other is that of Persia & the rivers of Khosrow (Kisra). We would be reneging on a path that Khosrow has places upon us to the effect that we would not cause an incident & would not give sanctuary to a troublemaker. This policy you suggest for us is such a one thing that Kings dislike. As for those areas bordering Arab lands, the blame of those so acting would be forgiven & excuse for them would be accepted. But those areas next to Persia, those who so acting would not be forgiven & no such excuses would be accepted. If You want us to help You & protect You from whatever relates to our territories alone, we would do so."

- The land of benu Shaiba was bordering the Persian empire. So their military leaders who know the contract between them & the Persian empire; al-Muthanna; he said, "We have an agreement between us & the Persians that we would never give sanctuary to a trouble maker. This religion of Yours is something that Kings do not like. Because Kings want to hand authority on their hands to abuse others. Islam frees people. We can't protect you from the Persian side but we can offer You protection from the Arab side."
- So the land that is bordering between the Arabs, we promise you that we would protect you from that. But the area which is bordering Persia, we can't promise you anything. We can't stand in front of the Persian empire. It's too much for us.
- Rasulullah ﷺ responded by saying, "Your reply is no way bad. For you have spoken eloquently & truthfully. But God's religion can only be engaged in by those who encompass it from all sides."

- Rasulullah ﷺ doesn't want a compromised deal. Half a deal. He wanted to have complete protection.
- Rasulullah ﷺ, "I want an absolute commitment to protect me. You can't say that I can protect you from one side & not from the other." - 41:15
- IN OUR NEGOTIATIONS/DEALS, WE NEED TO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE RELIGION OF  ALLAH ﷻ NEEDS TO BE HELD IN HIGH STEM & WE SHOULD NOT BARGAIN & NEGOTIATE IN IT & WE SHOULD NOT COMPROMISE IT'S TERMS. & IF THE AGREEMENT DOES NOT FULFILL THE ISLAMIC TERMS, WE DO NOT HAVE TO INVOLVE IN IT - 42:00

- al-Aws wal-Khazraj were two Arab tribes that were living in Madina. They are the descendants of the branch al-Kahtan.
- The Arabs divided into Adnan & Kahtan.

- al-Aws wal-Khazraj are from Qahtan.
- They were neighboring 3 Jewish tribes. Benu Quraiza, benu Qainuqa'a & benu Nazir.
- al-Madina is unique that it offered protection from 3 sides. There were two rocky tracks on the East & the West which are inaccessible for armies to cross. Then there were the tress, the farms of Madina towards the south. So the only direction that an army can attack Madina is from the north.
- Rasulullah ﷺ visited the camps of wal-Khazraj ondy during the Hajj.
- Rasulullah ﷺ came in & asked them, "Who are you?"
- They said, "We are from al-Khazraj."
- Rasulullah ﷺ, "Are you the ally of the Jews?"
- They said, "Yes."
- Rasulullah ﷺ, "Can I speak to you?" & they agreed.
- So they sat down & Rasulullah ﷺ invited them  to Islam.
- They were very eager to hear what Rasulullah ﷺ said. They immediately accepted & said Rasulullah ﷺ...
"We have left our own people for they have such discord & ascension between them not found in any other. Perhaps God may unite them through You. We will go forth among them & invite them to You presenting this religion that we accepted from You. If should God unite them around you then no one would be dearer to us than You."
- Small group of 6 men from al-Khazraj.

- How come the Ansars was not resistant to the message of Islam like the other Arab tribes? - 45:45
1. The people of Madina was in a constant warfare among themselves - 45:55
2. Neighbors of the Jews (monotheism was appealing) - 46:40
- Arabs used to see the religion of the Jews being superior the them {(Jews were learned, having scriptures) (Arabs were polytheist & was in Jahelia)} - 46:45
- Why they didn't convert? - 47:20?
- Jews treat them (Arabs) as lower class & as that THE JEWISH RELIGION IS ONLY SUITABLE FOR THE ELITES - 47:20
- Jews to Arabs, "THIS IS A TIME A PROPHET WILL APPEAR & WHEN HE COMES OUT, WE WILL FOLLOW HIM & WE WILL KILL YOU LIKE THE PEOPLE OF 'AAD WERE KILLED." - 47:35

3. The Arabs also knew that this is the time for a Prophet - 47:45
4. Battle - Having no established structure & looking for leadership - 48:10
- THE PEOPLE WHO TEND TO BE THE MOST RESISTANT TO THE TRUTH ARE THE LEADERS OF THE SOCIETY - 59:15
🕌 # al-baqarah,216 (liking disliking, good & bad) - 50:15
- "You might dislike something but in it might be a lot of good for u" - 50:15

- This war that happened between al-Aws wal-Khazran that killed many of them. Even though it caused a lot of bloodshed & harm to them, it was one of the reasons that brought them closer to Islam.

- These 6 men in the first bai'a al-'Aqaba accepted Islam & they told Rasulullah ﷺ,
"We would go back to our people & start preaching the message."
- They made an appointment with Rasulullah ﷺ to meet him next year in the season of Hajj.
- So a year passed by & the year of Hajj approached. The 6 came back as 12. We've the original 6 & addition to them 6 more. The earlier 6 were all from al-Khazraj. One narration says they were 5 from al-Khazraj & 1 from al-Aws.
- Second year they were 12. 10 of them from al-Khazraj & 2 from al-Aws.
- They came to Rasulullah ﷺ & they gave Him pledge of allegiance it was called the pledge of the women. Even though none of them were female.
- Bai'atun-nisa (pledge of the alliance of women, pledge of not fighting)- 51:35
- It was called so because it didn't involve within it terms any pledge of fighting.
- TERMS OF THE PLEDGE: We pledge to the messenger of Allah ﷻ on the night in the first meeting at Aqaba that - "We would not associate any other god but Allah ﷻ, would not steal, commit fornication, kill our children, make false accusations, not disobey Allah ﷻ for any good." - 51:50
Rasulullah ﷺ  told us, "If you keep to this, you shall have paradise. But if you give up any of these & you are punished for it in this world, then that would provide atonement for you but if it is overlooked until judgement day, it would be up to Allah ﷻ where to decide whether to punish or to forgive you."
- The pledge includes them committing themselves to Islam & worshipping  as individuals but it doesn't include any terms relating to protection or fighting. That's why it's called BAI'A TUN NISA.
- Because this is the kind of pledge given to Rasulullah ﷺ by womem.

- PERCEPTION OF PUNISHMENT - 53:20
- Rasulullah ﷺ appointed Mus'ab ibn 'Umar to teach Islam to the people of Madina. You can call him an ambassador, scholar, teacher.
- Mus'ab ibn 'Umar came from a wealthy family of Quraish. He was the most spoiled young man in Makkah before Islam. He used to wear the most expensive clothes & best perfume. His mother was taking care of him. She was a very wealthy woman. She didn't have many kids. So she was taking very good care of them & he was vere spoiled. He became Muslim. His mother boycotted him. She stood against him. Mus'ab ibn 'Umair who was wealthy turns from wealth to poverty. From living a spoiled life to live in a tough & harsh life. When Mus'ab ibn 'Umair was killed in the battle of Uhud, the witnesses of this burial said, "He didn't even leave behind enough money to buy a coffin."
- As he was a Shaheed, he wasn't wrapped in special cloth, but when he was fighting he had one piece of cloth that was not sufficient to cover.
- They said, "When we cover his face; his feet will appear & whenever we cover his feet; his face would appear. So we went to Rasulullah ﷺ to ask what to do.
- Rasulullah ﷺ said, "Cover his face & use some tree leaves to cover his feet."
- Mus'ab ibn 'Umar was living in Madina.
- Since Aws & Khazraj were enemies, Mus'ab ibn 'Umar had to lead the Salah because none of them would accept praying behind an Emam from the other tribe.
- One day Mus'ab ibn Umar was with As'ad bin Zurara who was his host went to visit some of the Muslims in a garden. Mus'ab would hold teaching sessions, 'Halaqa.
- They went to the neighborhood of Madina that was part of al-Aws. Majority of the Muslims were from al-Khazraj. Islam was now spreading in speed among al-Khazraj but it wasn't catching up with al-Aws. So Mu'sab ibn Umair is trying to make inroads within al-Aws.
- So they went to the land of al-Aws & sat there.
- The leaders of al-Aws were close by. Sa'ad ibn Mu'az & Usayd ibn Hudayr.
- Sa'ad spotted them & told Usayd ibn Hudayr, "I want you to go to those two men & tell them that we don't want them around misguiding the weak & foolish among us & it wasn't for the fact that As'ad ibn Zurara is my relative, I would have done that myself."
- As'ad ibn Zurara was from Khazraj but he was a cousin of the Head of al-Aws. So from the mother side, he was a relative of Sa'ad ibn Mu'az. So has ties with both al-Aws & al-Khazraj.
- Sa'ad to Usayd ibn Hudayr, "I want you to go & kick them out."
- Usayd ibn Hudayr went up carrying his spear toward Mus'ab ibn Umair & As'ad bin Zurara.
As'ad bin Zurara, "This is a leader of his people, be sincere with him." (Do your best because if He becomes Muslim, many people would follow him."
- Mus'ab, "If he listens, I will."
- Usayd ibn Hudayr came & stood above him carrying his spear speaking to them in a very harsh tone. He said, "We don't want you around here misleading the weak & ignorant among us. If you care about your lives, you better get out of here. Otherwise, this is my spear."
- One of the attendees of the 'Halaqa, "You are the one who is misleading us." He stared an argument.
- Mus'ab ibn 'Umair, "How about you sit down and hear what I say? If you like it, you can accept it. If you don't, then you can reject."
- Usayd ibn Hudayr, "Fair enough."
- Usayd ibn Hudayr stuck his spear on the ground & sat down.
- Mus'ab ibn 'Umair started to recite Ayah of Qur'an. Giving his Da'wa. Explining Islam.
- As'ad ibn Zurara, "Even without him speaking a word, we were able to see Islam enters his heart because of the calmness in his face and the radius of light coming out of it."
- Mus'ab ibn 'Umair finished with his session with Usayd ibn Hudayr.
Usayd ibn Hudayr, "What does have to do to join you religion?"
Mus'ab ibn 'Umair, "Wash yourself & come to pray."
Usayd ibn Hudayr did that & said, "Now I'm gonna send you a man. If he becomes Muslim, all of his people would follow him.

Usayd ibn Hudayr went to Sa'ad ibn Mu'az.
Sa'ad ibn Mu'az, "I swear by Allah ﷻ that he is coming to us with a different face than the one which left us with."
- Art of reading faces - 01:01:10
- Ash-Shafe'i went to Yemen to learn this art.
- China has this art.
-  When 'Umar ibn al-Khattab was khalifa & saw a man, "This man is either a sorcerer or he has been a sorcerer in the past."
- They went to ask this man & he said, "Yes I used to be a Kaan (Fortuneteller, Sorcerer or Soothsayer).
Sa'ad ibn Mu'az, "Tell me what happened?"
Usayd ibn Hudayr, "Everything is fine. Don't worry about it. There is a slight problem however & that is that benu Harith (a branch of al-Khazraj) want to kill As'ad bin Zurara because they know that he is your cousin."
Usayd ibn Hudayr made up the hole story. The reason was he wanted Sa'ad ibn Mu'az to go & meet Mus'ab ibn 'Umair.
- Sa'ad ibn Mu'az stood up angry & said, "They want to kill my cousin?"
- He picked up the spear & said, "You have not done me any good."
- He went there.
- As'ad ibn Zurara, "This is the leader of his people. Do the best you can."
- Sa'ad ibn Mu'az took a look at the meeting & he realized that the Usayd ibn Hudayr reported was fabricated. Because it didn't seem that they were terrified. It didn't there was a plot to kill As'ad bin Zurara. Otherwise they woud have acted differently.
- So, Sa'ad ibn Mu'az realized that Usayd ibn Hudayr has made up the story because he wants him to come to see what's happening.
- Sa'ad ibn Mu'az came & told As'ad bin Zurara, "Why are you doing this to me? Why are you bringing this man to my territory? You are taking advantage of your relationship with me. You want to mislead the ignorant & weak among us."
- Mu'sab ibn 'Umar, "How about you sit down and hear what I say? If you like it, you can accept it. If you don't, then you can reject."
- Sa'ad ibn Mu'az agreed & sat down.
- People of Madina are open minded. They don't have the hostility existed in Makkah. They are willing to listen.
- Mus'ab ibn 'Umar, the choice of Rasulullah ﷺ for this mission. He had the 'Hikma & wisdom of Hidaya. Somebody to preach Islam.
- He started giving Sa'ad ibn Mu'az the message.
- As'ad bin Zurara said, "I can read in his face the fact that he wants to become a Muslim."
-  When the conversation finished, Sa'ad ibn Mu'az accepted Islam.
- Sa'ad ibn Mu'az went to his people & said, "What is your opinion of me?"
- They said, "You are the wisest among us & You are our leader."
- Sa'ad ibn Mu'az, "Well none of you speak to me & I will speak to none of you until you become Muslim."
- By the end of that evening, every house among benu Ashal was Muslim.
- The whole clan of benu Ashal which were a branch of al-Aws.
- Now a huge breakthrough was made within al-Aws.

life of mohammad pbuh part 16/16

Mus'ab ibn 'Umar had done an outstanding work in spreading the message. By the time the next Hajj season arrived, the narrator of the 'Hadith said that there was no house in Madina that there were a Muslim in it by the effor of Him.
- The appointment to meet Rasulullah ﷺ in Hajj is approaching. So Muslims went with the pilgrims of their people. So the delegation that came out from Madina were Muslims & Nonmuslims. Muslims had a secret appointment with Mu'hammad ﷺ but they went out with the group that came out from Madina. So there were 70 men & 2 women who were Muslims.

- Ka'ab ibn Malik narrates:
- We are among the pilgrims of our people. Some were Muslim & some were Nonmuslim. Our leader of the Muslims was al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf.
- Al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf came to us to say, "I've an idea & I want to get our opinion. I don't feel comfortable turning my back towards this building in prayer I wanted to seek your advice whether I should pray towards al-Ka'ba."
(The Kibla of Muslims at that time was al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. So the people who are in Madina facing Jerusalem while their backs are towards Makkah. al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf is not comfortable doing that.)
- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "We responded by saying Rasulullah ﷺ is praying towards Jerusalem & we don't wanna contradict him."
- Al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf, "I am gonna pray towards al-Ka'ba."
- From that day on, he started praying to al-Ka'ba.
- When the delegation reached Makkah al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf said to Ka'ab ibn Malik, "My nephew let's go to Rasulullah ﷺ & ask him about what I've been doing in this journey. The disapproval that I've seen in you has somewhat disturbed me. Let's go & ask Rasulullah ﷺ if what I did was right or wrong."
- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "We asked a man from Makkah about Rasulullah ﷺ."
- The man said, "Do you know him? Have you seen him before?"
- Ka'ab, "We don't know him."
- The man, "Do you know al-'Abbas ibn 'Abdul Muttalib? His uncle?"
- Ka'ab, "Yes. We used to see him in Madina on business trips."
- The man, "Mu'hammad ﷺ is the man sitting next to al-'Abbas in the Masjid. You'll find him there."
- Ka'ab, "I went with my uncle Al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf into the Masjid & found al-'Abbas ibn 'Abdul Muttalib. He came & greeted them."
Mu'hammad ﷺ, "Oh uncle, Abul Fadl, do you know who these two men are?"
(It was the tradion of the Arabs to give a name to the father by their eldest sons.)
- Al-'Abbas, "Yes. This is al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf. The leader of his people & this is Ka'ab ibn Malik."
Ka'ab, "I swear by Allah ﷻ, I will never forget the next statement Rasulullah ﷻ made."
- Rasulullah ﷺ, "Do you mean the poet?"
- Why it was a big deal for him? Cause it shows that Rasulullah ﷺ has heard of him. Ka'ab ibn Malik was so proud & happy that Rasulullah ﷺ; His leader; The man who meets him for the first time & has been waiting for this moment to meet him has heard of him. He might have even heard some of his works.
- Why it was a big deal for Ka'ab ibn Malik?
- Because shows that Rasulullah ﷺ has heard of him.
- Ka'ab ibn Malik was so proud & happy that Rasulullah ﷺ; his leader; the man who meets him for the first time & has been waiting for this moment to meet him; has heard of him. He might have heard some of his works. So he was so proud & happy that Rasulullah ﷺ has heard of him.
- Al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf, "O Rasulullah ﷺ, I've come on this journey having been given guidance to Islam by Allah ﷻ. I had the idea of not facing my back to the this building. So, I prayed towards it. My friends opposes me on this causing me concern. What do You think?"
- Mu'hammad ﷺ, "You already had a Qibla, Your direction of prayer. You should have kept it."
- Rasulullah ﷺ at that time was in Makkah. He wasn't turning his back toward al-Ka'ba. He was facing al-Ka'ba but in the direction of Jerusalem. But the people like al-Bara' bin al-Ma'ruf didn't like that.
- When Rasulullah ﷺ made Hirja, was feeling the same feeling.
- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "We left for the Hajj having made an agreement with Rasulullah ﷺ at al-'Akaba in the middle of Tashriq period."
- So they made an appointment to meet at a specific time.
Ka'ab ibn Malik, "We kept it as a secret. None of our people knew about it. All of the Non-Muslims in our group knew nothing about our meeting with Rasulullah ﷺ. It was secret. Except Abu Jabir 'Abdullah bin 'Haram. He was one of our leaders. We went up to him & we told him...
...Abu Jabir, you are one of our noble leaders. We would like you to give up your practices. Otherwise one day you would end up as fuel for hellfire.
- Abu Jabir did accept Islam so they told him about the private meeting & he was one of the people attended with him. In fact he was one of the leaders who was appointed by Rasulullah ﷺ within this group.
- It was time of the appointment. It was late at night."

- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "We were going towards al-'Akaba in ones or twos."
- The didn't want the attraction of the people. If you have a group of 70 (+Abu Jabir 'Abdullah bin 'Haram) going to meet Rasulullah ﷺ, it would turn the attention of others. So they are going in ones or twos. Until they all gathered in al-'Akaba.
- When they were all there, then Rasulullah ﷺ showed up.

Rasulullah ﷺ showed up at that meeting & He had one person with Him & that was (supposedly) only Non-Muslim who attended the meeting. He was Sayyidina wa-Maulana al-'Abbas ibn 'Abdul Muttalib. The uncle of Rasulullah ﷺ.
- Al-'Abbas ibn 'Abdul Muttalib was the first person to speak, "Mu'hammad ﷺ holds with us in a position of which you are aware. We protect him from our people. Who think about Him as we do. He is respected among his people. Safe in His own town. But He is determined to join up with you. If you think you would keep trust with Him in the invitation you have given to Him & would protect Him from His opponents, then it's up to you to accept your responsibilities. But if you might think you would deliver Him over, abandon him after he has joined you, then leave him right now. He does has respect & protection among His own people & His town."
- Al-'Abbas ibn 'Abdul Muttalib wanted to make sure that this is a commitment from the side of al-Ansar.
- Al-'Abbas is saying that we are going to take care of Mu'hammad ﷺ; we are protecting Him; however His is insisting on leaving us. Are you gonna protect Him when He leaves to you or not?
- Why al-'Abbas ibn 'Abdul Muttalib was there?
- When al-'Abbas finished his statement, al-Ansar said, "We have heard what you have to say. Now o Rasulullah ﷺ ask us what You want. Go ahead & speak to us about what You want from us & pick for Yourself & Your lord whatever you want."
Rasulullah ﷺ stood up & said, "I ask you to pledge that You defend me as you do to your women & children."
- So this is an upgrade. A step higher than the earlier agreement in Bai'a al-'Akaba al-Ula. On that pledge there it was them to become Muslim. Now there is an additional term added to the contract & that is offering Mu'hammad ﷺ with protection. This is a defensive protection.
- He also told them in a different narration, "You must pledge to hear & obey at times of both action & inaction. To give whether the times are hard or easy. To advocate goodness & prohibit evil. You must speak out for Allah ﷻ & not fear any blame for supporting Allah ﷻ. You must help & defend me if I come to you in the same way you help & defend yourselves, your wives & your children."
- Clarity: I'm not coming to you just for you to protect me, I am going to be your leader. You listen to me & you obey me. You fear no one but Allah ﷻ. I can't make this move if you have any fear in your hearts. You have to be willing to commit to yourselves for this mission.

- Al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf stood up & wanted to give Rasulullah ﷺ Bai'a saying, "O Rasulullah ﷺ, I swear it that we are warriors from father to son over many generations (They were strong & they had this reputation in Arabia."
- While Al-Bara' bin Ma'ruf was speaking, Abul Haithami stood up & interrupted saying, "Rasulullah ﷺ, we have certain ties to others (referring to the Jews) & if we break this we are concerned that if Allah ﷻ gives You victory, You might return to Your people & abandon us."
Abul Haithami is saying that this commitment means that we might get into conflict with whom we have agreements with. So; now in case You win; are You gonna stay with us or are You gonna leave us? See, we are willing to enter into this agreement for our whole life but are You gonna stay with us or are You gonna leave us?

Rasulullah ﷺ responded after smiling, "If your blood be sought, our blood shall be sought & your destruction is mine as well. I am of you & you are of me. I will battle those who battle you & make peace with those with whom you make peace."
Rasulullah ﷺ kept to his agreement.
- When Makkah was open; the hometown of Rasulullah ﷺ; He left it & went back to the people of Ansar in Madina & he remained there until He died. Rasulullah ﷺ stayed with Ansar until the last moment.

- When the Ansar started extending their hands to pledge allegiance to Rasulullah ﷺ,
🏛️ As'ad bin Zurara stood up to interrupt saying, "Slowly now, we are only here because we know that He is the Messenger of Allah ﷻ. Bringing Him out now however might be a provocation to all the Arabs & cause you to lose your elite & would box owned with swords against you. If you are able to withstand that, then adopt Him & it would be up to Allah ﷻ to reward you. But if you are people who have great fear for yourselves, then leave Him & make that fact claimed. That course would be more forgivable to Allah ﷻ's sight."
🏛️ (- He meant, "Have you realized what agreement you are intering in? If we take Rasulullah ﷺ with us that means that we are going against the whole world & we would be boxed in with swords surrounding us. We might lose our elites. We might spend our money. We might be killed. Now we either stand up & commit otherwise if you have any fear in your hearts, pull out now when it is not too late.")

🥁- They pushed As'ad bin Zurara away & said, "We would give pledge of allegiance. Keep away from us, we won't renegade in this pledge. We would never deny it."
- When Rasulullah ﷺ asked them to protect Him, they asked, "What we would get in exchange? We are gonna offer You protection even if we lose our lives & our wealth. What are you gonna give us? This is not an one sided agreement. We are offering you help that You will give us an exchange."
Rasulullah ﷺ, "Jannah!" (Just one word).
🥁 - They said, "(رَبِيْ حَلْ بَيْعَتُ. لَا نَقِلُ وَلَا يَسْتَقِيْلُ) this is such a profitable deal. We would never give up."
🥁-  They said, "What is better than Jannah?"
- Compare this with  Bai'hara bin Faras who said, "I'm gonna take this young man & eat the Arabs with Him."
- Then he said, "If Allah ﷻ gives You victory would You then transfer power to us?"
🔥- Rasulullah ﷺ said, "No, It's up to Allah ﷻ."
- He said, "We don't want to have anything with You."
- Al-Ansar said, "That is the best deal, Jannah."

- Somehow the news reached to Quraish. It is not easy to conceal a meeting of 70+ people in the crowd of  Hajj.
📢- It was Shaitan who exposed the news to Quraish.

💥- Quraish investigated the matter & matter & it led them to al-Ansar.
- Next day early in the morning a group of leaders of Quraish visited the camp of al-Aws & Khazraj.
💥- Quraish, "We have heard that you have met with Muhammad ﷺ & you offered to take Him with you. Give Him protection. Now listen the people of Yathrib...
🚩YOU ARE THE LAST PEOPLE ON THE EARTH THAT WE WANT TO HAVE A FIGHT WITH.
So, What have you done? Did you really meet with Mu'hammad ﷺ?"

👊 (The Quraish knew that al-Aws & al-Khazraj are not easy opponents. These are fighters. Truly as it was said, "We have inherited the skills of war generation through generation.") 👊

- The Quraish is saying that we don't want to have a fight with you.
⏱️- The Muslims among the al-Aws wal-Khazraj remained silent & the nonbelievers started speaking, "That never happened. We never meet with Mu'hammad ﷺ. We had nothing to do with Him. We didn't see Him."
- They were speaking the truth. They had no idea of that secret meeting that happened because only the Muslims knew about it. They kept on refuting that repeating same thing.
🧿- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "We the Muslims were staring at each other silently & we didn't speak."
💥- The people of Quraish were becoming convinced.
🧿- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "I wanted to change the topic/subject."
︻デ═一 - There was al-'Harith bin 'Hisham present who was a leader of Quraish wearing some new sandles. Brand new. 一═デ︻
🧿- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "I told Abu Jabir (one of our seniours). O Abu Jabir, being one of our leaders, you can't even afford to wear new sandals like young man of Quraish? What's wrong with you?"
- This young man was upset with what was said. So he picked them up & threw them to Ka'ab ibn Malik.
👉- Abu Jabir, "Take it easy Ka'ab ibn Malike, you have made the angry. Give him back his sandles."
- Ka'ab ibn Malik, "No! I won't give it back to him. This is a good omen to me. I'll take off from him a spoils of war."
- That was the end of the meeting.
